Exploring the ubiquitous use of symmetry in indoctrinal iconography, Cam's exhibition examines the tools that propagate belief system dependency. Religious dogma through to political opinion are explored as they regularly enlist iconography that requires a subjugation of self to a pre-ordained truth.
.
The paradox is that Cam's finely detailed graphite renderings are a meditation in themselves. Meticulous drawings are shadow carved from white light so the artist himself becomes inseperably connected as the bringer of aesthetic worship. Cam asks us whether religion can be surplanted by personal spiritual enlightenment, or perhaps can art that uses the core forms of indoctrinal icongraphy, as in Cam's new media film works, allow us to see new perspectives and question the absurdity of popular beliefs to higher powers.
