The Cubical at Stadtbad

stadtbad

Greetings fellow Carbon Composites,

.

May has ushered in our 4th month in Berlin, The typical distractions found in uprooting and replanting yourself into different surroundings has been time consuming. Momentium starting to gather again with some exciting projects afoot. The focus since arriving has been to put an exhibition together prior to approaching the galleries.

.

A month back, Pete another NZ artist in these parts kindly offered a section of his studio for me to work in, i jumped at it. The studio space Stadtbad, is in ‘Wedding’ pronounced Vedding auf deutsch. An area of Berlin with a high Turkish population, the turkish are big into bathing and Stadtbad was originally a building that housed bathing quarters and a massive swimming pool, these are still there minus all the water and chlorine. The Snap above and the footy below don’t really capture the scale of the place, its huge.

.

Below is a clip that serves to document the space, i expect the Oskers, Emmys and Globes to start flowing in before the years out.

It captures 5 minutes and 15 seconds of creating lines that didn’t exist 5 minutes and 15 seconds prior.

Music : Whatever was playing in the office…. Blue Pine i believe.

Banner art dominated the Queen Streetscape in Auckland today. A colourful assemblage stretching as far as the eye could see - estimates of 50,000 New Zealanders marching against the National government proposals for mining in our National Parks and sensitive environments.

If you haven’t made a submission yet you can do a quick submission here at Forest and Birds website and let John and Gerry know they should keep their colonial p****ks out of our virgin bush:

Figuring out that many plants survive in the most extreme places by mainly water alone, led one man on an odyessy from the rigours of amazon to the precarious cliff faces of the modern office building.

If your eyes are in need of some lush green pixels, check out the plantwork canvases of Mr Patrick Blanc
